About Valerie
Valerie Gilson is a stained glass artist based in southeastern CT and has been creating in this medium since 1987. Gilson uses balance, symmetry, color, texture and variety to demonstrate how the beauty of art glass can elicit a sense of appreciation and wonder. Valerie Gilson is passionate about the healing power of creativity as evidenced by her pursuit of lifelong learning in this field and sharing her skills and knowledge through instruction. She is inspired by technical mastery and excellence in craftsmanship. To this end, Valerie’s work is often characterized by unique and innovative ways of hanging, framing and finishing to let the glass “be the star of the show”. Valerie is the lead instructor of the stained glass studio at Spark Makerspace in New London, CT and teaches privately throughout the region.
